Many social change efforts have used ribbons and pins to create a sense of belonging to a social movement. While The Golden Bow serves this purpose, but it is unique in that it is not simply a symbol for social change, but carries many meanings within its own design. The Golden Bow is, in and of itself, a lesson in the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding.

Muchos esfuerzos para cambiar la sociedad han usado lazos y pins para crear el sentido de pertenecer a un movimiento social. Aunque que el lazo de oro sirve para este propósito, no es solamente un simbolo del cambio social, si no que trae consigo muchos significados en su diseño. El Lazo de oro es por si mismo, una lección en el aprendizaje,promoción y apoyo de la lactancia materna.

Gold: The use of the gold colour for the bow symbolises that breastfeeding is the gold standard for infant feeding, against which any other alternative should be compared and judged.

Oro: Se usa el color dorado para el lazo ya que simboliza que la lactancia materna es la mejor forma de alimentar a los niños, en contra de cualquier otra alternativa que pueda ser comparada o evaluada.

A Bow: Why do we use a bow, rather than the looped ribbon of most campaigns? Each part of the bow carries a special message:
Un lazo: ¿porque usar un lazo completo en lugar de un simple, como en la mayoria de campañas?Cada una de las partes del lazo tiene un mensajes especial.

One loop represents the mother. Un lado representa a la madre

The other loop represents the child. El otro representa al niño.

The ribbon is symmetrical, telling us the mother and child are both vital to successful breastfeeding - neither is to the left nor to the right, signifying neither is precedent, both are needed.
El lazo es simétrico, diciendo que la madre y el niño son ambos imperscindibles para el exito de la lactancia.Ni el derecho,ni el izquierdo ninguno precede a ninguno, los dos son necesarios.

The knot is the father, the family and the society. Without the knot, there would be no bow; without the support, breastfeeding cannot succeed. The ribbons are the future: the exclusive breastfeeding for six months,a nd continued breastfeeding for 2 years or more with appropriate complmentary feeding, and the delay of the next birth, preferably for 3 years or more, to give the mother and child time together to recover and to grow, respectively, and to give the mother the time she needs to provide active care for the health, growth and development of this child.

El nudo, es el padre, la familia y la sociedad. Sin el nudo no habría lazo, sin el apoyo la lactancia materna no se puede tener éxito.Los lazos son el futuro, la lactancia materna exclusiva hasta los seis meses, su continuación durante al menos dos años o más con la corespondiente alimentación complementaria, y el retraso del nacimiento del siguiente hijo, preferiblemente a los tres años o más, para dar tiempo a la madre y al niño para recuperarse y crecer, respectivamente. Y para dar a la madre el tiempo que necesita para cuidar activamente la salud,el desarrollo y crecimiento de su hijo.
